Devra's Bravo Award Acceptance speech for Woman In The Mirror, A Dancer's Journey "Early this year when it was time to sign the contract for the theatre, some old fears and insecurities tried to stop me. Luckily the other voice that said "do it anyway" won out; I produced my show without corporate backers, found my director, Jessica Bird, sold out houses and won an award! This award is not only for me but is a testament to the strength of the Human Spirit and acknowledgment of transformations in consciousness that are happening on the planet right now. We can choose to shift from the confines of religious institution to following the truth in our own hearts, from patriarchal domination to include feminine principals of caring for the earth and each other, from hate and fear to love. Theatre has the ability not only to entertain, but to touch people on a deep level. This is my life's purpose. All my life I've danced; never for Balanchine or on Broadway, …yet… On my journey I've experienced a myriad of personal, professional and spiritual transformations.
