Do Hemline Predict How the Economy is Doing?




  Runways and fashion are always reflecting pop culture and what is going on around the world, but are shorter hemlines indicators of the economy? Some say yes, and have evidence to back it up. Hemlines have risen in times of economic downfall in order to save money on expensive fabric. Business Insider even concocted a full on analysis of all hemlines seen on the runway and noticed a small but significant change in length. While we have been seeing many skirts and dresses with a higher hemline from New York Fashion Week, we have also seen plenty of mid-calf dresses as a tribute to the 1960’s. But we still have much to see in the next couple of weeks with other foreign fashion weeks, so stay tuned!
